I'm sure many of us know this struggle! Maggie Gyllenhaal is rumored to be an Oscar contender for her acting in the film 'Crazy Heart,' and she explained why she had to do it.
"I got a feeling when [daughter Ramona] was 14 months that I had to do something for myself. It was just during the writers' strike. And then 'Crazy Heart' came to me, and I thought there's no way this movie will be made. When I read it I said no way."
Maggie's character, Jean, is a journalist who ends up in an affair with a "washed up country star" she interviews. Maggie's mother came to take care of Ramona during the shoot.
"She said I wanted to give you the freedom to lose yourself in your work."
Being a mother can be so tough: you love your kids more than anything, but sometimes you need a little something for yourself, too! It sounds like Maggie was at that point.
