Emmy Rossum had a few errands to run yesterday. First the 'Phantom of the Opera' actress was photographed heading into Staples. Then she was seen making a very large purchase at the Target in Los Angeles. Looks like she is working on her office. Unfortunately, according to IMDB the Emmy has nothing going on professionally. What does an actor do when they can't get a job? The last thing she did was work on a pilot called 'Shameless'. Hopefully it gets picked up! Photos by FAME

Emmy Rossum is going to take her top off, in HD, for her new show, 'Shameless.' But she's not shy about letting the world see her goodies in HD because it was natural for the role. "It's really outrageous and funny, the way it's told and depicted. Nothing's taken too seriously. So even though it's a hard circumstance, the family has an incredible will to survive. And there's a lot of funny naked drunkenness." She adds that co-star Justin Chatwin helped ease the tension she felt. "It's new for me. I was really comfortable with Justin. He's kind of like my brother. Well, I shouldn't say he's like my brother. But we're that comfortable with each other, so it didn't feel weird." Do you lose any respect for actresses who will take their top off for a role, or is that pretty much expected in Hollywood today?

In addition to gracing the red carpet at the Film Independent Spirit Awards (see below in the pink dress), Emmy Rossum has been a busy lady. Here she's picking up lunch and coffee on the go. She may have given a hint on twitter as to why she's out buying coffee :) My mom makes coffee so strong it's like rocket fuel. I can't tell if Emmy considers that a good or bad thing: some mornings, that's EXACTLY what I need :) Emmy seems like one of the most grounded young actresses in Hollywood, doesn't she? OOH I love this. Emmy Rossum took a walk around NYC earlier in the week and Tweeted to her subscriber list all her favorite finds. Just took a long walk in the snow. New York is full of little boutiques, bakeries and shops to discover on every corner. On my walk, I discovered a new bakery (Tully's, gluten-free on 11th Street) Also, popped into a few vintage shops..."AuH2O" run by the very nifty/nice kate gold water & "Buffalo Exchange. What a great way to use Twitter. If only ever celebrity did this instead of sponsored tweets, the social media tool would be so much more useful to fans. Would you try out a bakery / restaurant / clothing store if a celebrity recommended it?

I'm sure all of you heard about Heidi Montag's seemingly proud claim to have had TEN plastic surgery procedures in one day. Emmy Rossum heard about it, too, and took to her twitter in response. It upsets me to see young women in the spotlight advocating plastic surgery. ANY surgery is extremely dangerous&should not be taken lightly, ..much less, used as a tool to increase notoriety or popularity. By putting this on magazine covers, we are somehow legitimizing the dangerous lengths to which some will go for fame and "beauty" There are so many REAL ISSUES in this world that NEED attention. Showtime is gearing up for yet another great new show. Emmy Rossum, William H. Macy and Allison Janney have been tapped to star in the drama "Shameless". "Shameless" revolves around the Gallaghers, a working-class Chicago clan dealing with the recession. The mother is AWOL, and the alcoholic patriarch (Macy) usually ends up passed out on the living room floor, so their smart but unpredictable 18-year-old daughter Fiona (Rossum) is tasked with keeping her five younger brothers and sisters on the straight and narrow. Allison Janney ("Juno") will play a love interest to William H. Macy's character. Also set to star is Justin Chatwin ("War of the Worlds"), who will play a car thief who falls for Emmy's character.
